Previous Episode Summaries

The episode begins with Megumi and Hime at Blue’s mansion, or the Precure Mansion. There Blue gave Megumi and Hime each a cell phone called Cure Lines. Both girls were happy for different reasons. Megumi never had a smartphone before and Hime is happy because she finally has something friend-like. Megumi already planned to use it everyday, but Blue, knowing this, told them that they’re not allowed to use that except for Precure business. He also told them to keep them being a Precure an absolute secret from everyone; that includes best friends and family.

Their secret was almost exposed as soon as they left the mansion. Seiji is Megumi’s next door neighbor and her best friend for years, they’ve known each other since they were babies. They routinely eat at each other’s apartment, as we see in this episode. He knows when she’s hiding something or lying to him. And Megumi is not a very good actor at all; her whole body becomes rigid and she fidgets away from looking into his eyes when she said that she’s not hiding anything. And then she said that it’s a secret and she can’t tell anyone. He’s okay with that probably because he knows he’ll find out her secret in a short time by doing nothing anyways.

Happiness Charge! Precure Episode 02 – The Precure That Runs Away

Previous Episode Summaries

Continuing from where the episode ended off on last week, Cure Lovely and Cure Princess were still fighting the Terribad which came from Mao (the little girl). Namakeruda is the guy controlling the Terribad and from what we see of him in this episode, he is lazy. Cure Princess was useless throughout the rest of the fight as she cowered on the ground trying to hide herself behind a flower from the Terribad. Cure Lovely was leaps and bounds better, if only because she went on the attack no matter how scared she was. I’ll give Cure Princess credit though in one aspect: she knows how to run away better than anyone else. She would know this, seeing that she’s never won a fight in her life.

Cure Princess used her PreBrace to summon a large tornado and threw that at the Terribad while she took Cure Lovely and ran away. A short distance later, they turned back into their normal bodies and Hime (Cure Princess) took Megumi (Cure Lovely) back to her mansion. The mansion is the embassy headquarters for her kingdom, the Blue Sky Kingdom. For Namakeruda, this was his first time seeing a Precure run away from a fight and he was as shocked as Megumi was.

Happiness Charge Precure! 01 – Birth of Cure Lovely

Japanese: ハピネスチャージプリキュア!

Megumi Aino is the main character of the new Precure series. Her Precure persona is called Cure Lovely, which is a play on her name somewhat with the ‘Ai’ from Aina meaning love. She has a rather forward disposition and an honest personality. The thing that I like about her most is that she’s willing to get dirty to help other people without them needing to ask her for help, and I don’t think you’ll ever find her complaining when someone asks her for help. We need more of these people in the world today.Whatever happened to ‘Love you neighbor’ or ‘treat other people the way you want to be treated’?  It’s always me, me, selfish, mine, why aren’t you thinking of me thinking. At least in America it is like that so when I see a character like Megumi, I am grateful.

Hime Shirayuki is perhaps the worst example of a Precure in history. She is one of the senior Precure of the new show and she’s always getting into fights, but the thing is she never wins any of them. She always runs away from her foes and when she does try to fight them, the enemy which are called “Terribads” knock her special attacks out of their way like her attacks are bubbles. Hime’s Precure name is Cure Princess and this also is a play on her name, Hime being translated Princess in the Japanese. Ribbon is a fairy mascot of both Hime and Megumi and is Hime’s mentor. How this works I don’t know exactly, I’m sure we’ll learn more as the show progresses.
